Four Fresh Lions Selected to the PSUAC ALL Conference Teams

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn State Scranton men's soccer team this fall had their best season in years, more than doubling their win total from the past TWO campaigns combined. Leading the dramatic turn around were twenty new players including 14 freshmen. Four of those first-year players received recognition from the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
Rookie of the Year;
#10, Fabrice Gatsinzi; Forward, 16 goals in 15 games
Fabrice was the leading scorer in the PSUAC with 16 goals in just 15 games despite often being marked by the oppositions' top defender. Combining great quickness with tremendous ball moves and shooting range, Fabrice is a big-time player in a small frame. Just a freshman, Fabrice's breakout season also earned him the Rookie of the Year Award in the PSUAC.
First Team ALL PSUAC Selections;
#8, Amani Byirinboro; Wing Midfielder/Attacking Center Mid, 7 goals, 6 assists in 15 games
Amani is the total package as a two-way midfielder. A dogged defender who leads our team in both steals and turnovers forced while also being the second leading scorer on our team - and ninth in the PSUAC. He is the 'straw that stirs our drink' and not only one of the top rookies in the conference but one of the best midfielders.

Second Team;
#7, Jack Eisele; Midfielder, 4 goals, 6 assists in 15 games
A true two-way midfielder, Jack has excelled on both sides of the ball this fall, making plays all over the pitch. He covers as much of the field as any player in the PSUAC, almost always is within 10 yards of the ball and often marks the top offensive midfielder on the oppossing teams. In addition, Jack is extremely versatile and has played every midfield position while scoring four goals including one game winner and dishing out 6 assists, (tied for first on our squad). He is undoubtably one of the MVP's of our team.
Honorable Mention;
#16, Tommy Buker; Central Defender, 3 goals, 6 assists in 15 games
Tommy combines a high level of technical skill and soccer IQ with tremendous field vision. He reads the game extremely well and is almost always in a good position to make a play. In addition, his distribution has triggered an offense that in one of the leading scoring teams in the PSUAC and in the top five in the USCAA D2 men's soccer in goals per game average. Tommy was tied for the team leader in assists this fall and was tied for third in the conference this fall.
Sportsmanship Award;
In addition, senior Raphael Carvahlo was named the winner of the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award. A four-year starter for Penn State Scranton, "Raph" was a two-time captain who this fall led the Lions to their best season in over a decade.
