Knights GK Fedli Ahmetbeg commits to Scranton Lions
DUNMORE, Pa. – Fedli Ahmetbeg, a 2021 graduate of Scranton High School, has signed with the Penn State Scranton Men's Soccer team and will join the Lions this fall as a freshman striker and goal keeper.
In the keeper spot in his senior season, Fedli earned a top spot on the 2020 LIAA Boys Soccer Saves Leaderboard. Raking up 126 saves on the season, Ahmetbeg will bring defensive support to the Lions, backing up senior GK Clay Martin, who has been Scranton's sole keeper for the last two seasons.
Ahmetbeg committed to Penn State Scranton after being recruited by Head Coach Joe Baltrusaitis. "He's got a lot of leg power and he is able to retain the ball and make his way through the defense," commented senior Men's Soccer captain Deyniel Desarden. Fedli, who is a leader defensively, will join the team in the fall, and his focus is now on honing his skills on offense as a striker. "He's not afraid to take the shot if he sees the opportunity," Desarden mentioned of his new teammate, "his teammates praise him for his form and skill set."
Fedli, who will enter Division of Undergraduate Studies this fall, likes to work on and repair cars in his spare time and has goals of playing soccer at a professional level.
