Tone and Toth put in full effort in opening week for Scranton

In the opening week of the fall 2022 season for PSU Scranton Athletics, men's soccer and women's volleyball took on non-conference opponents both at home and on the road.

Men's Soccer had a tough start against local D3 programs, Clarks Summit University and Marywood, when the team suffered two keeper injuries that left sophomore wingback Victor Bulaya picking up the GK spot for the first time in his collegiate career during a home match-up against Montco.  Midfielder Connor Tone led the offensive with 5 shots on goal, finding the net in the second half for the Scranton Lions for the first time this season in the 7-1 loss.

Lady Lions Volleyball also started non-conference play this weekend, hosting Word of Life at Penn State Wilkes Barre's court while their home court gets a face lift.  Sophomore right-side hitter Madalyn Toth served as court general for the squad, the main defender in receiving WOL's serves. On the offensive, Toth completed 5 kills in the loss to the New York visitors.

Next week Women's Soccer and Golf will start off their fall season, joining men's soccer and volleyball in non-conference play.
