Mark Longo and Kat Lahey

In Penn State Scranton's first week of competitions in over a year, the Lions Baseball and Softball teams took to the field to take on eastern PSUAC opponents. The contests produced two players of week for the Scranton campus, including starting pitcher Mark Longo and softball captain catcher Kat Lahey.

Lahey, the starting catcher for the Lady Lions, recorded three hits over the week; including 2 runs batted in and scored a run in four games against PSU Hazleton and Schuylkill.  Two of her hits coming Saturday on the road at Hazleton included an RBI single and an RBI double while also defensively making a handful of diving tags at the plate. Her at bat yesterday gave the Lady Lions some much needed momentum as she drove in a run and cored herself on the same play.

Mark Longo, starting sophomore pitcher for the Nittany Lions, came back to pitch on short rest from Thursday's Schuylkill match-up and threw six and two thirds shut out innings against Penn State Hazleton at home on Saturday, leading his team to their first win in over five years under new tuteladge, Head Coach, Vito Ruggiero. Moving to centerfield in the 7th, Longo then made a diving line drive catch to double up the tying run on 2nd base.  In the weeks first game of the season on Thursday against PSU Schuylkill, Longo had a hit and an RBI to kick off the Lions offense.

Longo and Lahey will the hit the road this week taking on York and DuBois, respectively.
