Week 6: Clay Martin
Dunmore, PA – This week’s PSU Scranton Player of the Week is sophomore goal keeper, Clay Martin. At home on Friday, Clay recorded seven saves on eight shots on goal in a double-overtime thriller against PSU Mont Alto which ended in a 1-1 tie, giving Scranton a much-needed point in the PSUAC Men’s Soccer standings. Martin followed up that performance with a stellar game in goal just four days later on the road in a must win game for Scranton vs PSU Wilkes Barre. Clay surrendered three early goals to the home team before settling in and stopping the next eight shots by Wilkes Barre, including the most important save of his career, off of a penalty kick with 15 minutes left in regulation ultimately securing the 4-3 win for Scranton. At the conclusion of the regular season, Clay currently ranks second in saves for the season with 109 and sixth in save percentage at 0.762 in the PSUAC.
