Bio
Troy Jackson Jr. is a proven program builder and transformational leader whose impact extends far beyond the court. Since taking over Penn State Scranton Men’s Basketball, Jackson has guided the program to back-to-back double-digit win seasons, marking the team’s first such stretch in more than a decade and signaling a new era of competitiveness and accountability.
Jackson is widely recognized for his emphasis on culture, discipline, and player development. Under his leadership, the program has produced multiple 1,000-point scorers, USCAA All-Americans, and numerous PSUAC All-Conference selections, reflecting his ability to develop talent and elevate individual performance. His leadership has also fostered a renewed sense of energy and cohesiveness within campus athletics, contributing to increased student-athlete support and packed home crowds.
Prior to Penn State Scranton, Jackson built an extensive coaching and professional basketball résumé. He previously served as head coach of the Cape Breton Highlanders (NBLC), where he helped lead the franchise to the conference finals after the team had missed the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. His coaching experience also includes collegiate leadership roles at Bryant Stratton Rochester and developmental work through his own organization, Man on a Mission Basketball, a program dedicated to skill development, academic excellence, character, and sportsmanship. Jackson also coached at University Preparatory Charter School, leading the freshman team to a 17-1 record in its inaugural season.
A former standout collegiate athlete, Jackson competed at University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Alcorn State, where he led the Braves in minutes and points per game and was among the team’s leaders in steals, assists, and rebounds. He went on to enjoy a successful professional playing career, including time with the Rochester Razorsharks, where he captured three consecutive Premier Basketball League championships. His professional experience also includes multiple seasons competing in Europe.
Jackson’s combined experience as a high-level player, coach, and mentor continues to shape his leadership philosophy. Known for his competitive mindset and commitment to developing complete student-athletes, he remains dedicated to building a sustainable, high-performing program at Penn State Scranton.
