(Musculoskeletal Injuries, wound care)

Athletic trainer should be notified by athlete or coach when the injury occurs. The athletic trainer will assess injury and treat, as needed, with immediate first aid. If an ambulance is needed for transportation 911 will be contacted. If allowed by athlete contact emergency contact ASAP.

If the injury is not an emergency that needs to be treated on the spot, the athlete will be seen and treated at the school’s athletic training room.

If the athletic trainer is not available at time of injury, the head coach should administer First Aid until the athletic trainer arrives.  (Rest, Ice, Compression, elevate the injury –R.I.C.E.)
