DUNMORE, PA- On a brisk autumn Monday afternoon in the electric city, the Penn State Scranton Lady Lions soccer squad dropped a close 2-0 home contest to conference foe Penn State Brandywine. With the tough defeat, Scranton's overall record stands at 0-2 and they are 0-2 in the all-important league play.

After a near scoreless first half of play from both ball clubs, Brandywine lit the lamp first at the 43:12 mark when forward Gia Cetroni scored, assisted by Hope Priemon, to give the road warrior Lions a 1-0 advantage they would enjoy heading into the break in the action.

Late in the second half, Brandywine would get some much needed cushion in the ball game at the 82:54 mark, as Priemon scored a goal of her own, this one unassisted, to give her squad a 2-0 lead they would not relinquish by the game's final whistle.

For the goalkeeping duties on the day, Brandywine's goalie Demareste Dorvilma was stellar in net in her shutout victory, as she stopped all of Scranton's four shots on goal while playing all 90 minutes in the match, as the hometown team had three shots on goal from freshman forward Jasmine Bender and one shot on goal from senior Kelly Velehoski. Meanwhile for Scranton, their senior goalkeeper Trinity Gammaitoni was stalwart in her 90 minutes between the pipes, as she saved a robust 23 out of the 25 shots on goal Brandywine fired her way.

Now head coach Amber Smith and her Penn State Scranton Lady Lions soccer ball club will look to bounce back and capture their first victory of the season when they host Trinity Washington this upcoming Friday, October 7th, at 4p
