DUNMORE, Pa. - In a Saturday afternoon home matinee, the Penn State Scranton Lady Lions basketball team lost 71-35 to conference foe Penn State Du Bois. With the tough defeat, Scranton sees their overall record move to 4-10 and they are now 0-8 in their all-important league play schedule.

The road warrior Lions from Du Bois came out roaring and never looked back, as they outscored Scranton 15-9 in the first quarter, 13-4 in the second, were deadlocked at 17 apiece in the third period, and in the fourth and final frame, outpaced their opponent by an impressive 26-5 margin to ensure their dominant 36 point triumph when the game's final buzzer sounded.

Scranton's lone player to score in double figures on the day was freshman guard Lexi Iveson, as she scored a team-high 12 points, went 3-7 from three point land, went a near flawless 3-4 from the charity stripe, and added a quartet of rebounds while playing all 40-minutes of the contest. Honorable mention also goes to fellow freshman Lexi Corby, as she nearly scored in double digits with her solid nine points, to go along with a hat trick of steals on the defensive side of the ball, a pair of boards, and a block to boot in her gritty 38-minutes of game action.

Meanwhile, Du Bois had a trio of players score in double digits, as freshman forward Natalie Bowser, junior forward Tara Leamer, and fellow junior Shannon Shaw set the pace offensively for their ball club. Bowser was an imposing low post presence all game long, as she notched a stellar double-double with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, shot an efficient 10-20 from the field, and added four assists, and a block for good measure in her 32-minutes of stalwart play. Leamer nearly collected a double-double of her own, as she tallied 14 points and nine boards, shot a lights out 7-9 from the floor, picked up five steals with her stingy defense, an assist, and a block in just 23-minutes on the court. Last but certainly not least, Shaw put up 11 points, went 3-7 from downtown, handed out five assists, a trio of rebounds, and a block in her quality 27-minutes on the floor.

Now long-time head coach Tom McIntyre and his 4-10 Penn State Scranton Lady Lions basketball squad will look to bounce back and snap their four game losing skid and capture their first victory in crucial league play when they next host local conference rival Penn State Wilkes-Barre this Tuesday evening, with tip-off time scheduled for a 6pm start. Scranton will be looking to avenge an early season 13 point, 48-35, road loss to Wilkes-Barre from back on December 2nd.
