Delaware Valley Invitational Results

The men's and women's XC teams opened their 2014 campaign this past weekend competing against teams from Weidener, Drew, Immaculata, Carin, Lycoming, Cedar Crest, Delaware Valley, Valley Forge Military College, Lancaster Biblical College and several community colleges at the Delaware Valley Invitational in Doylestown.
The ladies 6k event went off at 10:00 AM and sophomore Kim Gaik picked up where she left off last season crossing the line first for our Lady Lions in 21st place overall with a time of 27:20. Jr. transfer Stacy Skates followed in 22nd place in 27:22. Freshmen Grace Cosgrove and Summer Naughton and Soph. Marissa Rinaldi rounded out our top 5 placing 54th, 67th and 68th respectively. Other strong performances were turned in by Jessie Brudnicki (Fr), Lexi Scott (So), Liz Martino (Jr), Erica Sidorwicz (So), Aubrey Edstrom (So), and Jennifer Kokinda (Jr.).
Overall the ladies finished 7th out of 10 teams
The men's 8k event followed the ladies with an 11:00 AM start. Sophomore John Ciccone finished 9th overall with a time of 28:09, earning our only medal of the day. Freshman Jeffrey Jordan, Sr. Chas Bryant, Jr. transfer Josh Murphy and Sr. Sean Sweeney rounded out our top 5 finishing 33rd, 36th, 42nd, and 58th respectively. Mike Dorio (Sr), John Derenick (So) and Paul McLauchlin (So) also turned in strong performances for our season opener.
Overall the men finished 5th out of 9 teams.
This weekend both teams travel to Alfred, NY for the Alfred State College Invitational.
