DUNMORE, PA – Brandywine looks to hold off the Lady Lions from Scranton in a late season weekend contest.

Scranton fell to Brandywine in a tight contest that went down to the second half before the visitors took the 82-71 win. The first quarter was dead even as neither team could amass a larger lead than three points, with the period ending knotted up 16-16. Both teams continued consistent play throughout the rest of the half as their shots fell effortlessly. Going into the intermission Brandywine held a slim 38-36 lead over Scranton.

Following the half junior guard, Rachel Lewis got things started with a jumper to tie the game at 38-38 for the Lady Lions before Brandywine began to take over. At the 8:36 mark in the third quarter Brandywine took the lead for good, outscoring Scranton 24-12 in the third frame. Despite out scoring Brandywine in the final quarter 23-20, the Lady Lions could not overcome the deficit. Senior guard, Nikki Velez led all scorers with a game­-high 30 points and five boards for Brandywine. Also contributing to the effort for the visitors, freshman guard, Amanda Floyd dropped 13 points, four rebounds and five assists. Floyd also swiped a game-high eight steals and senior forward, Madison D'Ambrosio added 12 points and seven rebounds for Brandywine.

Junior forward, Jessica Berger led Scranton with 15 points and nine rebounds and sophomore forward, Courtney Varcoe had 13 points and nine boards. Junior guard, Alyssa Cuono also contributed 13 points, two assists and two steals on the night for the Lady Lions.
