14th Annual Pink Zone Night – Central Penn College vs PSU Scranton Preview

DUNMORE, PA - Penn State Scranton Athletics is hosting their 14th Annual Pink Night on Thursday, February 6, 2020. The event will take place in the Multi-Purpose Building during the women's basketball game against Central Penn College. Admission to the game is free, please consider a donation at the door. Donation collections will go to the Pennsylvania Pink Zone organization, which raises awareness for breast cancer.

Lady Lion Head Coach Rene Portland began the Pink Zone Night tradition in the summer of 2006 with the objective of attracting a bigger audience to the women's basketball games and to support a good cause. She used a $5,000 award to fund the expenses for a Think Pink game and by 2007, the Lady Lions were hosting their first Think Pink game at the Bryce Jordan Center. Both teams wore pink uniforms and honored breast cancer survivors at halftime. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association applied a logo and new name, Pink Zone, to the event shortly after. Penn State Scranton continues to hold that tradition every year to support breast cancer awareness by selecting one game in February to raise awareness.

This meeting between Scranton and Central Penn is the second game of this season series, where Central Penn holds a 1-0 lead on the Lady Lions following a 70-49 win on November 6, 2019. Junior guard, Alyssa Cuono led Scranton with 11 points and junior guard, Rachel Lewis added seven points in the effort.

Sophomore forward, Khadijah Robinson led all scorers with 18 points and six rebounds for Central Penn. Senior guard, Ja'Lynn Burton-Jones dropped 13 points, three rebounds and three assists in the win.
