Bio

Chris Sload has produced success at every stop. He has taken every program he has coached to the highest level of play-off competition- High School, Junior College and four year colleges.

Sload is entering his ninth season with the PSU Scranton Lions. Sload has produced three (first, second, and honorable mention team) PSUAC All-Conference and two (second team) USCAA All-Americans.

Prior to coming to PSU Scranton, Sload led Johnson College to its first EPCC play-off berth in the program’s history. He put two players on the All-PCAA and EPCC team.

In his prep career, Sload brought great success to both Wyoming Valley West and Mechanicsburg High Schools respectively. Under his direction, Valley West earned a berth into the PIAA district II 4A tournament every year during his tenure. However, in the 2005-06 season, the Spartans made the PIAA 4A state tournament. They were the district II runner up, as they knocked off the #1 seed Scranton High School. The Spartans lost to William Allen High School in the first round of the state tournament.

While at Mechanicsburg, Sload took the Wildcats to two district III tournament appearances and one PIAA 4A state tournament appearance. The 2003-04 team finished fourth overall in the 4A division in district III and earned the Wildcats a spot in the PIAA state tournament. The Wildcats lost to a Reading team by seven points that would go on to win the district III championship. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the state tournament to Cheltenham.

In 1996, Sload got his coaching start at Dickinson College as the Associate Head Coach, he was responsible for strength and conditioning as well as the head Junior Varsity Coach. He was also in charge of recruiting. The Red Devils won the Centennial Conference championship for the first time in school history with a win against Swarthmore in 1997. The conference championship granted an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. During Sload’s four year tenure at Dickinson, the program produced five All-Centennial Conference selections.

Sload has two regular season EBA titles to go along with his success. He served as an assistant coach with the Harrisburg Horizon. The Horizon is a professional minor league team that competes in the Eastern Basketball Alliance.

A native of Marysville, Pa., he and his wife Patti, have been married for 18 years. Together, they have two sons, Aiden and Carter. They currently reside in Dunmore, Pa.
