Intramural Basketball Rules
Players and Substitutions
- Maximum of 10 players per team roster
- Five players are necessary to begin a game but after the start of the game less than five is allowed
- Only players listed on the teams official roster may play
- Any full time student/faculty or staff member of Penn State Scranton can play unless they are a member of the varsity basketball team
Equipment and dress
- Game ball will be provided
- Score sheets and clock with scorekeeper is provided
- Players must wear appropriate footwear for the court
- Players must wear pinnies provided
Length of game
- Two 15 minute halves on a continuously running clock with the exception of the final minute of each half. During the final minute of each half the clock will stop on every whistle .
- There is three minutes for halftime
- As many three minute overtimes as needed to resolve ties
Description of play
- 1 minute time out per half for each team
- If a time out is not used in a half it will not carry over to the next half
- On a team’s 7th foul of each half the opposing team received a 1 and 1 on the foul line.
- Substitutions are permitted “on the run” provided a team does not create an unfair advantage by the substitution.
- T shirts will be provided to the tournament champions
- All rosters and schedules will be posted in the gym and online at www.psuscrantonathletics.com
- Game changes or cancelations will be posted online and the team captains will be notified.
- Referees are provided by the athletic department and their calls are final.
