Lady Lions drop first contest of 2020 to Pratt, 62-46

DUNMORE, PA – Penn State Scranton Lady Lions opened the new year hosting the Pratt Institute. Early on both teams struggled to get their shots to fall until the 4:27 mark in the first period when Pratt started to heat up from the floor giving them some cushion over Scranton. Scranton kept the first half close only trailing the visitors by nine, 31-22, at the break. The Lady Lions came out of the locker room looking to cut into the deficit, cutting the lead to two but Pratt did not relinquish the lead with strong play inside by Sophie Bischoff, who finished the game with 14 points, nine rebounds and eight blocks on the day. Beverlee Caraway led all scorers with 24 points and 10 boards for Pratt. Junior guard, Danielle Powell led Scranton with 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Junior guard, Rachel Lewis poured in 11 points, three rebounds and three steals and sophomore forward, Courtney Varcoe added nine points, six rebounds and three steals for Scranton.
