Simoncelli Relays Canceled Due to Course Maintenance

DUNMORE,PA-    Athletic Director Jeff Mallas announced today after a thourough course check with head Cross Country Coach Gary Edstrom that the Joe Simoncelli Relay Race set for September 2, 2017 will be canceled due to road work and course maintanance.  The race, in its 2nd year, is named after former Athletic Director, Joe Simoncelli.  Simoncelli, who served in many capacities at PSU Scranton including Head Cross Country Coach , Athletic Director, and kinesiology instructor, continues to serve as an inspiration in Athletics. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances on the course, maintenance will be done to alleviate a washed out road area for the Nittany Lion Invitational set for September 30, 2017.

The team, which can be seen practing every afternoon on campus, will be participating in the Northeast Pennsylvania Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on September 16, 2017 in Scranton.  More information on how you can support and even join the team for the downtown race will be announced later this week.

Anyone interested in joining the Cross Country team or any other fall team on campus still has time to sign up by visiting the Athletic Department or calling at 570-963-2617.
