Bio

Tom McIntyre is entering into his 12th season as Head Coach of the Women's Basketball team at Penn State Scranton.

Coach McIntyre led the Lady Lions to their first division championship in school history in his second season.  He also led the team to its first winning season since the program was restarted in 2001.  His teams have challenged for the division in each of his first 4 seasons.

During the 13-14 season Coach McIntyre coached the program's first 1,000 point career scorer. Coach McIntyre has coached 5 PSUAC All-Conference team members and 2 USCAA All-Americans. During the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons Coach McIntyre coached the PSUAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year. His proudest accomplishments are the 8 PSUAC All-Academic and 6 USCAA All-Academic honors his players have recieved during his time at PSU.  Also, two of his former players received the Greater Scranton Chapter's Female Athlete of the Year in 2013 and 2014.  This award is presented to an athlete at Penn State Scranton Campus who have contributed both athletically and academically earning over a 3.0 GPA.

Prior to coming to Penn State Scranton, Coach McIntyre had success coaching 7th grade girls basketball for the Old Forge School District for 10 seasons.  During one of those seasons his team went undefeated (14-0), the first time a girls program at Old Forge finished the season undefeated. Through his ten seasons at Old Forge some of his players went on to be recognized as All-District and All-State players.

Tom is a 1992 graduate of Scranton High School, and a 1996 graduate of Penn State University.  Tom spent the first two years of his college career at the Scranton Campus where he participated in both basketball and baseball.  During his freshman year the men's basketball team won the Northeasten Pennsylvania Junior College Conference regular season and tournament championships.  In his sophomore year they made it to the Commonwealth Campus Athletic Conference Championship.  His baseball career lasted two seasons where he lettered in the positions of first base and pitcher.

Coach McIntyre graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, and is currently employed as the Chief Financial Officer at East Stroudsburg Area School District.  He currently resides in Scranton, Pa with his wife Kimberly, also a Penn State graduate, and their 2 sons, Thomas and Joseph.
