Lady Lions win second straight in rout of PSU Hazleton

DUNMORE, PA- Penn State Scranton hosted visiting Penn State Hazleton in their second PSUAC conference contest of the semester hoping to improve to 2-1 in 2019. The first half was tight throughout with both teams battling it out for the lead. At the half, Hazleton held a narrow 1-point lead over Scranton, 42-41. The third quarter picked up where both teams left off going back and forth exchanging baskets as Scranton took a 59-56 lead into the final period. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions from Scranton found a rhythm and pulled away outscoring the visitors by 16 in the period, sealing the win in commanding fashion, 82-63. Sophomore, guard Danielle Powell led the Lady Lions with a 19 point and 10 rebound double-double. Sophomore, guards Jenna Pacella and Rachel Lewis both notched 15-point performances for Scranton. Also adding to the win was junior, guard Monique Hicks with 14 points and 7 rebounds, freshman, forward Tabitha Boyd with 11 points and 9 rebounds and Jessica Berger cleaned up the boards with 18 rebounds to wrap up the win. Penn State Hazleton senior, guard McKenzie Prutsman led all scorers with 26 points and sophomore, guard Kendra Pfeil added 20 points off the bench for the visitors.
