Lady Lions stumble in first game of 2015

The Lady Lions suffered a tough loss at home Sunday afternoon to Penn State Du Bois in their first game back after a six week break. The team is learning on court chemistry all over again after adding three new players; Molly Burke, Katie Yale, and Katie Hart, with this game setting the tone for the second half of the season.

The game started off with a steal from Penn State Worthington Scranton's freshman Mikaela Brutico, but Scranton couldn't back it up. PSU Du Bois Kristy Haines, who had a game high 20 points, hit a 3 giving the visitors an early 3-0 lead. Danielle Segilia, who finished with a team high 17 points, made both free throws after an early foul to put your Lady Lions on the board. Penn State Dubois held a 24-21 lead going into halftime.

With 4 quick points from Penn State Worthington Scranton's freshman Sara Moss, who scored 10 in the game, and a free throw from Brutico the Lady Lions tied at 26 early in the second half. Worthington Scranton's Senior Aubrey Wargowsky hit a jumper to give her team a 2 point lead. Haines then hit a 3 to give the lead back to Dubois. Both teams exchanged baskets when freshman Molly Burke, in her first game as a Lady Lion, hit back to back 3's to bring her team within 4 points. That is the closest Worthington Scranton would get with the scoreboard showing a 68-59 loss for the Lady Lions.

Head Coach Tom McIntyre was very hopeful about the new additions to the team stating, "They helped by giving quality minutes throughout the game which helped the others be less tired near the end of the game. Also, we really only had 1 person in the post and now we added 2 girls who can help in the post area. Molly also can help at the point and also has a great outside shot. They only had a few practices with us, I expect them to be a bigger part of our game as the season continues."
