On a picture perfect summer-like fall day in the electric city, the hometown Penn State Scranton men's soccer squad lost to conference foe Penn State Schuylkill by the score of 3-0. With the defeat, the Lions from Scranton saw their overall record drop to 1-5 and their all-important league mark moved to 1-3 on the season.

Schuylkill scored a pair of goals in the first half of play before adding a crucial insurance score in the final 45-minutes to cruise to their three goal victory by game's end. For the road warriors they kicked-off the scoring at the 15:34 mark of the first half when Antonio Sosa found the back of the net, assisted by Nicholas Harner, to give his club the early 1-0 lead. Then at 25:57, Harner scored a goal of his own, this one unassisted, to increase his team's advantage to 2-0. Last but certainly not least, Isaac Smith scored unassisted at 50:43 in the second half to stretch out the lead to 3-0 and finally put the match out of reach.

Scranton recorded six shots on goal on the day, with junior Raphael Carvalho leading the way with four of them, to go along with freshmen Owen Sheils and Will Nagy each getting a shot on goal.

Meanwhile on the goaltending side of things, Scranton had freshman Ethan Lovelace who was a brick wall between the pipes going the distance and stopping eight of the 11 shots on goal he faced in his stalwart 90-minute effort. For Schuylkill they had Vinny Schlosser earn the complete game shutout victory in goal, as he was lights out stopping all six shots on goal he faced throughout the contest.

Now head coach Robert Denney and his 1-5 Penn State Scranton men's soccer squad will look to bounce back with a win and snap their mini two game losing streak this upcoming Saturday afternoon when they go on the road to take on non-conference foe Word of Life with a 4pm scheduled kick-off.
