By: Mar Tsakonas

The Penn State Scranton men's soccer team took on number one ranked Penn State Brandywine in an overtime thriller. The game started off quiet as neither team could get an upper hand as both goalkeepers shut out all who tried to score. Freshman Goalkeeper, Devon Strubert, had an impressive 17 saves in the first half holding off the tough team from Brandywine. As the second half began the Lions from Scranton wasted no time in breaking the stalemate as freshman Defense man, Russell Lang scored the first goal of the game 15 seconds into the half claiming the lead for Scranton, 1-0. They didn't let up as freshman midfielder, Mike Depietro scored another goal for the Lions in the 58th minute the stretch the lead to 2-0. Despite the strong goalkeeping Brandywine would strike back in the 74th and 86th minutes of the game tying it up to send it into sudden death overtime. The overtime period would prove too much for the Lions from Penn State Scranton however, as Penn State Brandywine would score a goal first ending the game in the 94th minute. Devon Strubert would finish the game with 26 saves. Both teams fought hard and at the end of the game exchanged handshakes showing good sportsmanship knowing they left it all out on the field.
