Lions come up short in home opener

DUNMORE, PA -Penn State Scranton opened up their regular season today at home against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The game was a barn burner at the half with Scranton trailing by one, 19-20 as they headed into the locker room. With pressure from the Panthers in the post who had 6 blocks on the Lions attempts in the paint, Scranton struck back in the second.

Out of the locker room the Lions picked up speed with Tom Gonzales,10, on point in the paint, who ended the game with 12 points. Freshman Christian Ferreras, 23, had 12 points and 7 board in the loss and senior Benji Griffin, 1, had 6 rebounds and 11 points. The Panthers offense was strong inside the paint with forwards Brandon Vorta, 23, and Alex Johnson, 10, scoring 18 and 16, respectively, scoring 34 of the Pathers 57 points.

The Lions will meet  local non-conference team Johnson College on Monday at Johnson in Scranton, PA at 7 pm.
