Early deficit too much to overcome as Lions fall to Warriors 101-81 to end 2016

On Tuesday the Penn State Scranton Lions (2-10 overall, 0-5 conference) hosted the Warriors of Vaughn College (5-3 overall, 1-0 conference) for the last game of 2016. The first half started off slow as both teams struggled to find their rhythm from the floor until Vaughn College went on a 19-5 run to create some space from the Lions. PSU Scranton fought back bringing the score within seven points at the half trailing 51-44. The Lions were led by junior, guard Levert Comas with 12 points, sophomore, guard Bryan Gallagher with 11 points and freshman, forward Roman Crisafulli with 10 points at the half. Vaughn was led by Lamink Barr with 12 points and Michael Pena with 9 points in the first half.

The second half picked up where the first left off at a fast tempo as both teams exchanged baskets with Vaughn building a lead as large as 26 points putting the game out of reach for the Lions pulling out the win, 101-81. Michael Pena led all scorers with 21 points for Vaughn. Also contributing to the win for Vaugh was Lamink Barr and Dillon Dieng both with double-doubles, 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 points, 10 rebounds. Leading the way for PSU Scranton was Bryan Gallagher with 17 points, and junior, guard Jeff Griffin also added a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Levert Comas and Roman Crisafulli added 15 and 12 points respectably to round out the effort by the Lions.

PSU Scranton Men's and Women's basketball teams return to the court in 2017 on January 8 as they host Luzerne County Community College, tipoff at 1 PM and 3 PM.
