Kelly Scores Big on the Road

Penn State Worthington Scranton's Men's Basketball hit the road Tuesday for the first time this season taking on Williamson Trade. It was a rough start for the Lions who entered the game 1-1 after two NCAA teams visted Scrantons home court this past weekend.

Williamson Trade started hot, scoring the first 13 points of the game and with three quartes of the first half over, the Mechanics led 32-13.  Penn State woke up with 7 minutes left in the first and went on a 21-8 run going to the locker room 38-32.

The Mechanics led by double digits on multiple occasions but the Nittany Lions answered each time.  With only 2:43 left in the game, the Lions led Williamson by 3 points.

The Mechanics went on a 6-0 run after junior Jo'wan Livers rallied from the three-point line but Lions senior Hasiin Dixon answered with a three of his own. Tied at 76 with a little over a minute left it was a nail-biter.

It all came down to the last 48 seconds where a free throw and driving lay-up gave the Mechanics the final lead to pull out the 79-76 victory.

Sophomore Kyle Kelly had a career high 28 points, 17 of which kept the Lions alive in the first half.  Senior Hasiin Dixon added 22, the two players accounted for more than 65% of the teams final score.

Williamson was led by junior Kevin Whitfield who had a double-double 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lions will face two SUNY teams in the next week on the road, SUNY ESF on Saturday at 2 PM and SUNY Delhi on Monday, November 23 at 7 PM.  Next Sunday will culminate the Lions non-conference schedule and they will being PSUAC play on December 1.
