Jess Berger

Freshman, guard Jessica Berger posted a week of standout performances on a three game road trip vs PSU Hazleton, York and Mont Alto. At Hazleton, Jess dropped 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks, going 2-3 from the charity stripe. She followed up with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists at York, going 3-5 from the free throw line. Berger posted her best perfomance of the week at Mont Alto tallying 21 points, 9 rebounds, hitting 4-5 free throws on her way to leading the Lady Lions to their first conference win of the season. Throughout this road trip Jess averaged 17 points per game, shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the charity stripe.

 

Get to know Jess:

Q: Where are you from? What awards did you earn in the past (high school or college)?

A: I'm from Lake Ariel, PA. I received campus player of the week for volleyball last semester and in high school I got Most Improved Senior and MVP for volleyball my junior and senior years.

 

Q: List some highlights from your season so far:

A: The past 3 road trips I've had 51 points and 22 rebounds.

 

Q: What's your favorite aspect of playing your sport?

A: My Favorite aspect of playing basketball is having great teammates that work well together and keep pushing you to be the best player you can be.

 

Q: What is your pre-game routine/ritual?

A: My pre-game ritual is saluting my dad after the national anthem.

 

Q: Do you have hopes, season outlooks or goals for your career and for your team in general?

A: I'm hoping that as a team we continue to work hard and play together. As for myself I just want to keep putting up points and grabbing rebounds.

 

Q: What do you like about playing at PSU Scranton?

A: I like that I know some of the girls already from playing against them in high school. I also like that I get a lot of playing time.

 

Q: What is your favorite sport/ team (professional or otherwise)?

A: Basketball: Golden State Warriors; Football: Pittsburgh Steelers

 

Follow online as Jess and the Lady Lions hit the road Friday at PSU Beaver at 6pm and Saturday at PSU Greater Allegheny at 1pm for their final conference action of the year!
