Griffin nets 1,000

On Saturday, senior guard Jeff griffin made PSU Scranton basketball history netting his 1,000th career point as a Nittany Lion on the road against PSU Greater Allegheny with 10:22 remaining in the first half. Griffin, affectionately known as "Benji" to family, friends and many around campus, joined an exclusive group of athletes at the top of the record books in his last game in a PSU Scranton uniform. This milestone was made possible through an increased role as a leader and a captain on the floor. Also through many hours of practice and extra work put in in the off-season, including playing in recreational leagues in the area, he was able to fine-tune his skills on the court catapulting him to elite status.

During the 2017-2018 season, Griffin assembled a senior campaign worthy of admiration posting nearly 17 points per game, pulling down an impressive 131 boards and shooting just under 70 percent from the charity stripe.

Many who have witnessed his tireless work ethic look back at his journey on and off the court with pride and share the excitement and elation that comes with such an achievement. Overall, scoring his 1,000th point puts a great cap on a great career at PSU Scranton leaving only one major milestone left to desire, his degree in Human Development and Family Studies, which he is set to achieve in the fall.

The Athletic Department would like to extent our greatest congratulations to Jeff "Benji" Griffin!
