PSU Scranton falls to PSU Greater Allegheny despite strong start

Penn State Worthington Scranton is still working out the kinks to their game. As a first-year program, the expectations for this team can't be very high, yet this team continues to prove they aren't going down easy.

After starting off the game strong, taking a 1-0 lead with 40:08 still in the first half. The goal was scored by #6, Ariana McLoe. The Nittany Lion's continued their strong play for a majority of the first half. With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Scranton trailed Penn State Greater Allegheny 3-2 in a tightly contested battle.

Unfortunately, after a self goal by the Nittany Lions' with 43 seconds left in the first half, Greater Allegheny began to close the contest out. An early second half goal by Greater Allegheny put Scranton down 5-2.

For the young Nittany Lions' team, the three goal deficit was unconquerable. Although a late game goal decreased the gap to 5-3, Penn State Worthington Scranton was unable to fulfill a comeback.

Moving forward, this match showed that with stronger defense, the Nittany Lions could become a strong PSUAC competitor as just a first year program.

The Nittany Lions take on Penn State Beaver at home Sunday October 9th at 12:00PM.
