Student-Athletes recognized at Annual Honors Dinner

On Sunday, May 1, 2016 Penn State Worthington Scranton held its annual Honors Awards Dinner in The View Café.  Students, faculty and staff members were honored with academic awards, program certificates and recognition awards. Among the students who received awards were three outstanding members of the Athletic Department. 

Sophomore Julie Cardillo, campus cheerleader and starting short-stop on the women's softball team, earned the Academic Excellence Award in Education.  Julie currently ranks 3rd in the PSUAC for batting average and will play her final games with the Lady Lions this upcoming weekend during conference playoffs in Hazleton, PA before heading to University Park in the fall. 

Junior Kim Gaik, 2015 Greater Scranton Penn State Chapter Female Academic Athlete of the Year and PSUAC All-Conference team member for women's cross country, was awarded the Patrick J. and Mary Jane Sheridan Award for Excellence in Business.  Kim also earned a third year honors program certificate.

Also earning an award was this semesters Athletic Department intern, Victoria Sheridan.  Victoria, whose work covering student-athletes spanned basketball and softball/baseball season, was named the 2016 recipient of the Walter Weber Memorial Award in Theater and Speech Communications.  Victoria will complete her senior year next semester.
